Ortho-Bionomy shows the body, through physical and energetic patterns, how to understand its own functioning. It’s a "returning" to its most natural state for that space in time.

Sessions are always done in comfortable loose clothing UNLESS you have booked a session of Remedial Massage Therapy. Which can then be incorporated with Ortho-Bionomy or

Hot Stone Massage Therapy. We will discuss this on time of arrival. 

An Ortho-Bionomy sessions starts with evaluation of how the body presents, checking the condition of the tissue and the function. I check the range of motion and tension; hold the joints in a comfortable angle, followed by applying gentle compression and holding in that position for 10 to 30 seconds. The therapy is ALWAYS done without pain or force. The client often responds by saying they feel like they have melted into the table. There is a gentle flow to the treatment moving carefully around the client using intuitive and educated moves. I liken it to playing an instrument, waiting, listening, and getting to know what works and what doesn’t, being curious and open for things to transpire.


Creating a calm still space the body reacts to the information points and gently and subtly starts to deeply let go of tension and stress. Ortho-Bionomy helps clients to bring their body out of “Fight or Flight” and into “Rest and Restore” (the Homeostatic State or the Healing state). 


Ortho-Bionomy is a re-education from the nervous system of our ability to return to comfort which is something we already know from birth. Dr Author Lincoln Paul's was the founder of Ortho-Bionomy in the 1970’s. He was a Judo instructor in England and many students would come to him for injuries which eventually lead him to study Osteopathy. He still hadn’t got the nurturing way of Judo movements until he stumbled on the work of Dr Lawrence Jones D.O., an American Osteopath – the work was called Spontaneous Release by Positioning. Paul's discovered, you move WITH the body not against it, allowing the body to find its own balance without force. A combination of his Judo experience, Osteopathic training, his knowledge of various systems such as homeopathy, and the approach outlined in "Jones" work then became Ortho-Bionomy.
